I tried the stuff Jeep makes, wd 40 etc - finally found some candle wax bars and coated it good and all is well again!

I've been trying various products. Lock lubricant with graphite and the Mopar zipper lube and I keep comming back to WD-40. You need to reapply fairly requently but it make a world of difference for me. I just removed the rear window which is getting harder and harder to zip and shot it with the WD-40 and the zipper moved easily without resistance. I always keep a can in my rear cupholder and never leave home without it now.

I tried starting the zipper WITHOUT first attaching the window to the swing gate bar. Seemed to make it easier.

...I use this same method without any issues.

I'm hooked. The bar doesn't go on until after the zipper is run (if at all).

It is a pain to unzip eventually i got pretty good at it though. I'm working on having a friend of mine knit a velcro system for the rear window the stock rear will zipper to a seperate zipper attached to velcro and the top will zipper to a seperate zipper attached to the other end I'll use the bar to keep it in but you would be able to just push the window down or zipper it half way the original way and just velcro the rest.

I keep a can of 3M spray lubricant in the Jeep and spray down the area where you start the zipper first.

Helps a lot.

Made a world of difference on mine, i can now unzip and zip using only one hand!

Works for me as well. I do the upper corners, but I don't seem to have much problem starting the zipper.

I never have any issues with mine. I always have my soft top all the way on even the back. Then I slide the back window through the bar. I have found that I can slide it to the side that I am working on. So I pull it towards the left side first connect the zipper. IT will go all the way up and across the top before it gets tough. Then I pull the back window back to the right side and finish.

I'll have to look at another soft top to see if its the same but on my rear window the zipper is like its stiched on the wrong side. V.S. the side windows. I think this is why we are having issues with the rear window if this is the case. It would let more dirt and moisture into the zipper since it wouldnt be protected like the side windows. the side windows dont show as much of the teeth.

You are absoloutly right on not attaching it first. I just rest mine in place.

good luck
I do this as well, but I take it a step farther. After undoing the windshield latches and the first little pieces of plastic on the sail panels (one on each side of the rear window), I remove the gate bar and zip in the window. Then, I unzip each side 6-8" or so and slide the bar back in. After that, I put the bar in the plastic clips, put the plastic sail panel clips in the tub, zip down each side and reach in from underneath and attach the velcro on each side. Oh, and don't forget to latch the front windshield latches again.

It sounds like a long process, but it only takes me a couple minutes if that.
