I have been running the Smittys for a while and they have been great and very stout.

Heard great things about smittys. I personally had the ruggid ridge tube doors and they sucked! Three replacements and for $350 the latches broke, the welds were on the wrong sides, the paint was chipping. Not impressed. Trying the smittys next summer

I have a set of Roughshod Offroad. Unfortunately they no longer manufacture them. Still my favorite style, and they are made to last a lifetime.

What is the purpose of tube doors? What do they do? They don't protect against the elements and they are no safer than going doorless.

Agree. And they do offer more protection than nothing at all, though not much.
