To close out my issue. It was the rear wheel sensor. The fancy code reader was able to indicate this. Easy fix once you know what to correct.

Default U1417

Same code. I replaced both rear sensors and even a speed sensor on the transmission. After that we did the PCM. Still have the code, abs light, traction control light, no cruise control. After the new sensors big O read it and it said the left rear was going 350mph! So i replaced the left rear again just in case it was a dud. Lights still on same code. Mine is a 2011 Dodge ram 1500 w/hemi

Those speed sensors generate pulses, but so do bad connections -- Things like stranded wires broken within insulation, or bad connections/crimps within a connector. That's what it sounds like to me.

Even though it's a Jeep forum, stay in touch!

Can you tell me where or how to fix this sensor? We had recently replaced my clockspring and ever since, I would get random lights you are describing. My ABS is now staying on and giving me the U1417 code. I have a 2007 JK X. Thanks for the help!

Nevermind. I did a youtube search. Hopefully it fixes the issue.

It's been a while....you simply remove the old speed sensor and replace with new. Undo the electrical connector.
