Default Used 2009s - previous rental Jeeps

Would purchasing a used 2009 Rubicon from a dealership who purchased the car at "auction" concern you? The Jeep was used as a rental "car" and that was the one and only owner.

I found a white 2009 with 44,xxx miles for $28,000 - sounds kind of high to me. What warranty balance should it have?

Thanks.

Yeah, plus the fact that it was a rental, it was probably beat on pretty hard and not maintained very well. Most rentals get heavy service in a short amount of time and are then sold off.

For 28K, you could probably negotiate a new 2010 for that price, especially with the 2011s hitting the lot soon.

There's a price for everything. Thousands of ex-rental vehilcles are regularly sold and driven, but they are CHEAP. As PLANMAN said, $28k buys alot better right now. Scan the recycler and help a fellow forum buddy first, especially if you want it modd'ed.

If many of you drive a rental like I do....I would steer clear. Not worth looking at in my op. I can only imagine what I would do to a rental jeep

dp7197: Don't walk away from the deal. RUN!!!

- I have watched a guy launch a Mustang rental off of a loading ramp.

- Another guy did donuts in a Target parking lot long enough for the police to show up and ban him from ever even shopping at that particular Target store.

- Another guy picked me up at the hotel one morning. As I was putting my equipment in the trunk I noticed an air filter. "Why do you have an air filter in your trunk?" "Oh, that! I normally pull it out. It gives the car a little more punch off the line."

- I parked a brand new Ford Exploder on a sheet of ice one morning. By that afternoon the ice had melted and it was sitting rim deep in mud. Fortunately it was 4WD. Rocking back and forth wasn't getting me very far. When I let off the gas and went for 4WD I guess the rear tires were still spinning. The front engaged with a loud bang. No idea if it was the hubs, diffs or transfer case.

Never, never, never buy a rental vehicle. As others have said, there are too many people like ME that rent them.

I wouldnt mind buying a rental but the hole point behind buying a rental is saving money. 28,000 for a used jeep is a rip off that should be criminal. I got my 2009 jeep brand new for $22,000.00. If someone pays 28,000 for used jeep it better have about 10,000 bucks in aftermarket upgrades. Anyone who thinks this is a fair deal I got a nice bridge in the southern tip of manhatten to seel ya. I'll give u a great deal.
