Default Using Simple Green To Clean Engine

So I sprayed simple green over everything in my engine bay and let it sit for three minutes and then rinsed it down good, for 10 minutes, and then I left the Jeep running for a while to create the steam effect.

Was it okay to spray everything with simple green as long as I hosed it down really well?

Thanks

Matt

Yeah same here I tried the Engine degreaser stuff and it got most of it off, and then a couple months later I tried this today it worked good on most of the stuff but my engine isn't spotless?
I used pure simple green I know I was suppose to dilute it but the engine was sprayed down first from cold.

I think you're good to go!

I need to clean out my engine bay soon. It's very dirty.

I'm big into dirtbiking, and I hear a lot of people use Simple Green, but I don't have much luck with it personally. On my MX bike, I spray the thing down with Wesleys Bleach White -- the stuff made for whitewall tires. I LOVE that stuff. Its the only cleaner I have used that I can spray on and literally hose all the dirt off. No scrubbing. I plan on using it when I go under the hood of the jeep...

There might be a Warning about the Wesleys product damaging paint- check before you use...

Thanks! That's a good reminder. I believe there may be a warning about that... but I have not run into any cases where it has caused me any problems. I will occasionally use it to help remove bugs and tar off my grill, but it's usually during a wash and I won't leave it on too long.

I've used simple green several times on my engine, afterwards I spray it down with WD 40. No issues.

I have yet to hose down my engine, just wondering though, is it okay to just wash the whole thing down with a hose?

Yeah, it will just be like driving in the rain just don't point the hose towards the airbox opening.

I have been using Simple Green for years to clean my engine bays of different vehicles. I would caution you though about a few things. First, make sure you dilute it. Secondly, read the label-Simple Green will corrode any bare aluminum it touches. So, be sure to dilute and rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse.
