Default wait to wax?

Hello, my JK should be arriving soon, and I have a quick question. I have heard in the past that you should give a new paint job at least 6 months before waxing it. Is this still true? was it ever? How long have you guys waited before applying your first coat of wax????

You should be able to wax it right away. I'm not sure about the Jeep's painting process, but my buddy is the GM for the BMW dealership here in town and they wax all of their cars during their dealer prep. You should be fine...

RED9BULL.... which dealership are you buying it from??

If its Storms in Southampton they hand wax it before you even get it.. anywhere else im not sure...

As far as I know, factory paint can be waxed ASAP and if its repainted from a body shop your supposed to wait, but even then I think its only 8 weeks.

Tell us about your order.... WHATTYAGET???

I'm getting it from Island Jeep in Lindenhurst. I thought the waiting period was for a body shop paint job only, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the speedy reply, this forum rocks!!!

You dont have to wait. New vehicle paint jobs are heat cured before they leave the factory.

Speaking of WAX.. I have non-painted bumpers. WHICH WAX will not leave that dumb white film. I haven't wash my JK for 2 months ... Just rinse when they drop MagChloride. What I hate the most about Denver is that when it snows, they decide to go crazy with the sand/rocks and MagChloride....

cars can be waxed as soon as they cool off from the paint booth dryer
the wait thing was from years ago with old style paint and or no clear coat
new clear coated urethane paint requires no wait
and all dealerships are supposed to wax it in prep

Just my 2 cents... Try ICE, works very nice for my silver JK and black T&C, no residue, I even use it on the bumpers, hardtop... Made by Turtle wax, I'm sure other companies make similar products but I have found this to be a really good product
