Default Warning - Check your drain plug

If your JK is brand new, check your oil drain plug. Mine was literally finger tight. I could take it out with my bare hands.

Eventhough this was a factory mistake. Take this as a thought of doing your own maintenance if you do not already do it. If you have the dealer do any work, always check , and mark parts that need replacement to ensure they did the right job. Nothing surprises me anymore with the things I hear on these forums.

My wife took her car to get an oil change and the oil cap ion top of the engine was left off. The engine was venting that oil smell. I checked it and found it in the front of the radiator base.

I've heard stories where the oil was drained , filter changed , put the plug back , and never filled the vehicle with oil, dealer had to install a new engine. This is why I do all my own maintenance and repairs, if I do not have the tools for any job , I rent them. Just dont trust the dealer for anything.

It is not always the tech's fault, sometimes they are pushed very hard by the dealership to make more money for the dealer. Or other times they assign 1 tech to start a job and then assign another tech to finish the job , so there is a gap of something bad happening.

I've had my plug fall out on the highway. That was the last time someone else did my oil.

X2 slim

What a crock of shiz, how can someone screw up an oil change?

Doesn't surprise me though, sadly enough.

Yeh I don't know how it wasn't leaking everywhere. I put my socket on it to loosen it up, and it was already loose! So I just took it out with my fingers. I guess this was a factory issue. The dealership wouldn't have removed the oil plug on a new Jeep would they?

I doubt it, no reason to.
