Default Water inside under front floor mats

Hi, I'm a newbie. Only had my jk for about year. So, I went to dump out my husky floor mats with just leaves. But when I took them out under my floor mats and my carpet were wet. Took me by surprise. I was just wondering how water can get in my jk under my floor mats with out collecting on my floor mats? Am I missing something? Do I have a leak I don't know about. I doubt this is normal.?

Do you have a soft top? Even for people with "no leaks" tons of water can still seep it's way in and soak up the carpet. Even seen it with a few hard tops. All it takes is once, and if you leave the mats on there, the water can't dry up.

Solutions:

Pull the drain plugs (there are 2) and that way any excess water can drain out on its own)

Pull the carpet (my preferred method, but personal preference)

If you leave the carpet, check it after every rain. Feel around good because the carpet is thick and had some extra thickness on the insides as a heat shield.

If it's wet, pull the little plastic thing under the seat off (the carpet retainer or whatever you want to call it) and pull the whole section of carpet up and tie/bunjee it to the wheel or oh shit handle, till it dries out

You can have a leak anywhere. I had a leak in the very back and the water pooled in the front under the carpet since it's the lowest spot on the jeep.

Had the same issue... mine was actually from water entering in the passenger rear fender well and soaking the front carpet under the passenger mats

Here is a doc that outlines the water leaks and fixes for the jeep wranglers that should help

Same issue with my '08, I pulled the carpet out and let it dry(took awhile lots of insulation). I also pulled the drain plugs. I'll probably put them back before wheeling but no issues at this point.

Not sure if this is relevant but some vehicles have a drain line from the AC that drains condensation from the evaporator coil.
If its loose, it could drain inside onto the floor.
Someone with more knowledge about this might chime in.

I had the same issue. I don't know if yours is a hard top or not but my water was coming from the washer fluid hose that came apart. You may have the same hose if it's a soft top I'm not real sure. The hose runs underneath the plastic on the floor on the driver side. I started in the front and got lucky. I hope it's something simple.

I had the same issue when I had first got mine, I have a hard top and the carpet would be soaked after rain, turns out water was leaking in from my the door surrounds and you can't see it, it goes behind the plastic and right down to the carpet, brought it back to the dealer and they put it through a shower and find the leaks and seal them up, I haven't really had an issue since I brought it to the dealer for a few hours.. Under warranty btw.

Good luck. I have the same issue with my 2011. Took it to the dealer while it was under warranty four times. Each time they "found" something that was causing it and it "wasn't leaking anymore". Now I'm out of warranty and it still does it. Guess it's time to get off my arse and find it myself.

Had the same issue with my '13 a couple months ago. Just slightly damp under the drivers floor mat with the hard top on. Noticed the weather strip on top of the drivers door was slightly out of place. Put it back where it belongs, no problems since. Hopefully it's that simple for ya.
