Cool truck btw. I had a 2003 mach 1 and they have big hood decals. After a year or so I noticed the very thin border decal that ran around the larger center decal was a bit ragged around the edges if you looked very very close. When waxing i used blue masking tape over the edges if the decal and had no further peeling. I don't know if the jeep sticker is any better quality. I found it best to avoid running any real pressure near the decals and had good results. Good luck with the new jeep.

Don't wax the decal.

I never use wax anyways. I suggest getting some Mezerna FMJ sealant or Klasse sealant. Gives much better protection, easier to apply and lasts longer.

But, never put wax over a decal, especially if the wax containst petroleum distillates. They will break down the vinyl material. You sould always tape off any decals before applying wax or sealant. For the vinyl decals just clean with soap and water. You can finish with a UV protectant like 303 Aerospace or Optimum. Also never apply anything directly in the sun.

I would probably run a coat of wax over it once or twice a year to protect it from UV rays.

Ya just be careful when rubbing. Don't rub back and forth accross the edge of the decal.

I don't think that the wax itself will hurt the decal. But pushing the wax or the wax dust up in under the edges would probably be bad news. Just make sure that you be careful with the edges.

I have been in the sign business for for ten years now. The majority of my work is vehicle graphics including full vehicle wraps. I would not hesitate to use a carnauba wax on the decal. It will protect it from uv rays, which is the major cause of the vinyl decal break down. I would go easy with the pressure around the edges of the decal as to not peel them up. After waxing it, take an old toothbrush and lightly go around the edges of the decal to remove the wax buildup in those areas. Do this each time you wax the jeep and the decal should last at least 7 to 10 years. If you have any other questions feel free to pm me.

That's a good idea I'll have to start doing that on mine I was always afraid of getting it under and the decal to start peeling so I just wet around it the best I could
