Default Weird auto dash symbol?

Hey jeepers, so a couple of times I've found my auto transmission feels 'stuck'. Only thing I can compare it to is when driving a manual and not finding the gear properly and falling into neutral.

I've noticed each time there is a symbol on the dash, to the right of where the 'D' is. Not sure, but it looks like a 1 or an ! ?

I've looked in the manual and done a google search but not having much luck. Anyone know what it is and why it's appearing?

Thanks.

Are you sure it's not a lightning bolt? That sounds like a possibility.

Well, it might be... tbh, whenever it happens my focus is on getting the car to operate properly as quickly as I can and not deciphering the symbol.

But your response begs the question, what if it were a lightning bolt? What would it mean? And it's directly to the right of the 'D' symbol, in the same section.

Does it have anything to do with ERS mode?

To the right of the "D" is the numeral that displays the shift lever gear position.

When you say it feels stuck, do you mean the transmission feels stuck in a gear, or do you mean the lever feels stuck?

Feels stuck in a gear. Stepping on the gas makes a loud noise.

Am I tapping the shift lever to the left by accident, do you think? Do I regain normal use by tapping and holding to the right until D appears?

The lightning bolt has to do with throttle control failure. I'm not sure about the location or what it would feel like. Mine has shown before but I just restarted my engine and it went away.

Hmm, so I'm guessing this auto-stick feature is a little too sensitive and I'm unintentionally making it downshift?

Yes, that would be my guess. When it shows the 1 in question hit the stick to the right and see if it turns into a 2. If so then then that is for sure what is happening .

Yes to both questions.
