I have a 4 door, =X= automatic. I am not having any electrical problems with it at all. My only problem is the shifting. It runs at a very low RPM, between 2000 and 2100 @75MPH. The shifting just seems off. It shifts in to the final gear at 50MPH and drops to 1100 RPM or so. I have to press the gas pedal down 2-3 inches for the passing gear to kick in as well. I've taken it to the dealer I purchased it from and the sales manager aggreed it shifted different than the other ones he's driven. The service manager said there's nothing wrong with it because the computer doesn't show any downloads for it when it's hooked up. Well, I called jeep and the called the dealer and the dealer flat out lied to jeep. I made a formal complaint with Jeep and they told me to take it to another dealer. That's what the wife's doing today.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal for a 3.8L with a 4.10 rear end to have the torque of a Yugo? (I AM able to pass on VERY long stretches like the interstate.) I'm hoping the other dealer does me right.

Thoughts?

I would say you have something wrong.

I used to drive an F150, so i am sure part of what i am experiencing is a major power to weight ratio change, but DAYUM! this Jeep is QUICK it will hit over 80 on the thruway before i realize it. It will do 0 to a bit over 65 on the onramp near my house, and it is a short onramp. I love hopping it of the line at redlights, i have gotten more than a few surprised looks when i take off in this thing. I have seen alot of posts here about how sluggish, or torqueless, or just general complaints this engine is. I just plain dont see it. this thing is fast, very fast. It has a ton of power. unless i put vastly larger tires on it, it has more than i could use. I must have gotten lucky.

mine wraps out a lot higher at 70. Not sure exactly the numbers but i do know that at 80 its about 3200. Then again i have a 6 speed. but the shift points cant be that far off can they? When was yours built? I would definitely get it flashed. there were a few other guys on here having trouble with their autos that fixed itself after they had there puters flashed.

Sorry, I meant to say that in my first post. I took it to the dealer and they said it had to be done by VIN and they couldn't do it for mine. Their suggestion? Take it out of overdrive and it runs great. I told the not only no, but $%^$ no. It was designed to NEVER have to take it out of overdrive. (It's supposed to automatically come out of overdrive when pulling something) Therefore, it's not working as designed. The manufacture date says Dec 06 on the inside of the door.

The wife took it to the other dealer and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I guess I'm stuck with a vehicle that looks like a dream but runs like a Yugo. The only positive is the improved gas mileage. I'm getting around 18 or so in reality.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I'll be more than happy to try them out.

I'm getting mine flashed when I bring it in for the ABS recall repair. In fact, I need to get that scheduled as soon as possible.

I'm still torqued with my dealer about the soft top, so they owe me one.

Similar Problem / Safety Issue on my '07 4x4 Unlimited. 1st time around 2900 miles @ 40 mph lost acceleration, dash lights lit up, radio/lights went off placed in neutral, within about 4 seconds regained acceleration and radio/lights. Taken same day to local dealer which stated Jeep had a stored code of PO884. Stated that they could not deplicate problem.
Also, continued electrical problems of blinker flashing, radio going off and on when windows rolled up, when placed in drive and when brake applied.
2nd occurence at about 5900 miles @70 mph lost acceleration, dash lights came on, radio/lights went off after a few seconds acceleration regained. Happened in heavy traffic in Dallas area "HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!!!"
Consulting with 3 area dealers and Chrysler customer care service. Jeep has been in service dept at least 6 times Oct. - Dec. 06.
Electrical problems continue at this time.
Attempted reairs by dealers: 1. Replaced ignition switch 2. Replaced Circuit Breakers and 3. Flashed computer

None of these attempts have corrected the issues. Besides time and trouble, Safety in my main concern.
