Default Weird Situation!

I came home from work and got out just like I always do and hit the lock button on the key and nothing happened! I hit he button again and still nothing! I then hit the unlock button and Nothing! I'm thinking this thing isn't even two months old, the battery in the remote can't be dead already! So I push the lock button multiple times and finally after the sixth or seventh push it locks. (mind you I'm standing right next to it!) Then I push the unlock button and it finally unlocks after six or seven tries, then five or six more to lock it. So I go in and get the spare key and it still does the same thing! Now I'm thinking I have to go to the dealership tomorrow. I come in and come to Project JK to find out how to check trouble codes, read the info and head back out to see if there are any. I walk out and hit the button to unlock, thinking I'll have to push it multiple times and it works perfectly. It locks and unlocks with one push of the button just like it's supposed to! I checked for trouble codes and there are none!

Anyone have anything like this happen? I'm baffled! Thanks in advance!

I've noticed that a couple times where I'll be standing next to it and I'll have to hit it a few times for it to lock and then a minute later it works on first push. Wierd but whatever.

Maybe it was really cold and the locks started to freeze? In conjuction, maybe a low battery on the JK itself?

I've seen this where my JK wouldn't respond until I'm almost on top of it. There are numerous things that can interfere with the radio signal. My suggestion would be to try it a completely different location. There may be a radio signal that is masking your lock/unlock signal at the location where you tried it.

I had one occasion where I was using the U-Connect for a phone call and it seemed to have completely killed the remote door lock/unlock feature. Thankfully after a cycle of the key and a short drive it was working correctly. Since then I haven't shut off the Jeep and opened the doors while still on a call with the U-Connect.

Yep, I'm betting it's interference from something. I would imagine it needs a pretty clean signal to operate.

Thanks for all the responses guys and gals! It hasn't happened since, so I'm not gonna worry about it. Prolly was some kind of interference with the signal.

Thanks again!

Gravimetric interference from a G-Type star, perhaps? They're notorious for screwing with EM signals.

I had that happen once with my toyota...

Whenever i would go to this one store, the alarm buttons would refuse to work, no matter how close i was.

Come to find out, there was one of those aircraft transponder radios thingys onto of the store because it was in line to a landing strip not to far away.

That's the only thing i could imagine that was messing with it.

It happens to me all the time with the JK (for unlocking), you have to push unlock button until the 2nd or 3rd time it works. And don't even think of locking or unlocking it while standing a little more than a car length away, it just won't work
