Default what do i do? need advise asap!

brought in my Jeep to the stealership today to get broken soft top covered under my warranty ( rear window zipper is ripped and jammed closed ) ....service manager couldn't budge it either so she ordered me a new rear window...when i got home i got a message from them stating that when they went to order the part under my V.I.N. it showed that my Jeep did not originally come with a soft top, which is true. My Jeep is an 08' and i bought the soft top off of a girl i work with from her 09' cause she didn't want it.
Are they going to give me a hassle even though the top is only a year old??

please give me advise so i don't say the wrong thing when i call her back tomorrow!

Thanks folks

tell them you ordered it separately from a dealer.

Why not ask the dealership if they will cover it under your co-workers VIN, since it is a warranty item it shouldn't make a difference to anyone.

They should cover it under her warranty, if they say no because its on yours, put it on her jeep, and make them replace it.

I had the exact same issue. I told them I purchased it from a dealership that went out of business due to Chrysler closing them and I didn't know why they didn't update my vin for it. It has to be a dealer installed accessory for it to be covered. I also had to call Chrysler Customer Relations and plead my case to them, then they fixed it and updated my vin so I wouldn't have any issues in the future. A little leg work but it paid off.

Default It should not be covered under the warranty

It was an after market purchase even though it is a factory part. No different from your buying Jeep wheels on Ebay and one of them failing. Jeep has no warranty responsibility.

Rear windows are not that expensive.
