Default What are the hanging straps in the front wheel wells for?

I was poking around in the front wheel wells and there are obvious hanging straps in each one. Small lengths that are bolted to the steel panel behind the turn signals.

They just hang there.

I assume that they are stock, but I am not sure as I dont know much about the JK Sahara model.

Sway bar or sway bar link retainers for running with the sway bar disconnected?

Did you get your JK used?

Yes I did. It came lifted with bigger tires. Could you explain what they do and are for?

edit: after a quick image search...they look just like these straps.... Click image for larger version

I'm only guessing, but like I said, they may be to keep the sway bar and/or its links "up and locked" and out of harms way when wheeling with the sway bar disconnected. A previous owner may have installed the straps for this purpose.

edit after seeing your picture post:
Do your sway bar links look like that, too?

I concur. Although this is the first time I've heard of a strap system included in a sway bar disconnect kit. It's cool that they are including a solution like this now.

Looks like quick a disconnect to me. The straps will hold them up and out of the way when disconnected off-road.

ok, Thanks. Mystery solved.

I take it that disconnecting the swaybar allows the wheels more movement range witch allows better wheel/tire contact with whatever they are crawling over?

Those links do not look like "quick disconnects" but the straps are most likely there to hold the links up when un-bolted.
