My first week running on Rotella 5w40. Reason being is that my oil consumption has increased quite a bit. 10w30 helped somewhat and I've read many posts stating that 10w40 stopped oil consumption almost completely.
My engine always had this knock knock knock sound on initial cold startup. It hasn't done it once all week running the 5w40.
Many say it's a diesel engine oil and it will clog the cats but I've been using either Rotella or mobile 1 5w40 in my 2.0L vw for years and never had an issue.

There is so much love shown here for Mobil 1 and I've used it too without issue, but the last 2 oil changes I've used penzoil platinum and my Jk runs smoother and feels better to me. I think it may be a better lubricant.

My engine told me in a dream to feed it mobile 1 only! So that's all I use 5w20 as per specs. It just loves it so much it eats half of it cause every oil change seems like so much less comes out then what I put in.

Mobile 1, synthetic, 5w30. You could get cheaper from Costco if on sale.
