Question What is this part for?

Attachment 104742

Hey everyone! Just bought a new JK, has hard & soft tops... this part was with the soft top but I can't tell what it's for. Can anyone tell me what this is? It's about 3 feet long.
Thanks!

Depending on how wide it is, it' might be a cross support bar for the roof. Not sure though, I have a hard top and don't remember having a piece like that on any of my old soft tops. Good luck.

I have a 09 and to me it looks like one of the side bars for the sun rider. So it would be on one side above doors running front to back..
No I know they changed the top in 10 so I'm not sure if this goes somewhere else.

I think it's what you use to keep strange dog from getting in the Jeep with you.

How long is it? I agree with a poster above my first thought was a secondary support for the sunrider if it is less than 12" long. But that is normally permanently attached tot eh frame, it would be hard to remove. I can't check my soft top is packed away to compare.

jeep jousting, ha! love it!

So I said 'new' but meant 'new to me' as it's a clean 2008 Wrangler X. This bar thing is 35.5" in length and thickness of about 3/4"... wouldn't make it width wise across the jeep. Also, it's kind of shiny black where all the hardware bars on the soft top are dull/matte finished. Not sure it goes with the soft top at all??
