Default What's up with EVAP can letting go?

So, this part of my 07 JKU is stock. The EVAP can just doesn't want to stay on the jeep. Pilot error, no doubt, but it's not that complicated so I have no idea what I'm missing.

There's a tab or tongue on one side of the mounting bracket that looks like you could bend it down to prevent the can from sliding backward under pressure, but how then would you manage removal when actually needed?

I've checked by feel to confirm all 3 tabs of the can have engaged the respective openings in the bracket. And the can went to a solid stop installing.

I literally knocked the can loose in a low spot that had flooded when going through the water fast enough to cover my windshield momentarily. The can fell off in my driveway, thankfully.

Tips?

Get a skid plate or relocate. Both those options will mount it more securely & protect it as well.
