Default why do they insist on inflating my tire

I usually run my 35" mud grapplers at 28 psi. I just got my jeep back from Mr. Tire and they inflated them to 35 psi. This happens every time i take it to the dealership also

That's because on the door placard, it says 36lbs.

. Where does it tell them that you prefer it at 28? Factory ran 36 to they figure it's low....assuming they know what psi you prefer to run (and the hundreds of other cars they work on) , are you telling the service writer this?

Always tell them what you want. Or better yet put stickers on fenders telling PSI. Like a humvee.

It alls has to do with liability issues. Even if you request 28 psi they will probably inflate them to the spec. on the sticker. Just CYA they don't want to get sued.

Yep, X3 on that.

I had an old, heavy gas-guzzler that I used to run the tires over-inflated to save fuel (made quite a noticable difference too, like 30%) & also to firm up the ride & improve the handling.

When I would leave it in for a service or for new tires, they would always return it with the tires deflated to the factory specs (28psi) instead of the 35psi I was running them at. The answer was always the same when I asked why; liability. The tire place would offer the air hose to me so I could do it myself but wouldn't let one of their guys do it as if a tire they over-inflated failed & caused an accident, then they could be held liable in law. They even showed me this in writing, in the form of a memo from head office that they had stuck on the wall of the office.

I run mine at 65 psi 285/70/R17and they work and wear perfectly, is this because it is a load range D?
