I did this on my 07 BMW 335i coupe, (which I totalled) and on my new challenger. I never got around to it on the wrangler but my WS just got two really bad bb sized cracks and holes in it, my insurance is replaceing the glass tomorrow morning and my tint guy is coming over tomorrow evening.
The answer to your problem is to buy a new windshield not to become an insureance cheat. Don't follow the advice above - it's always the wrong answer.
