Default Windshield wipers and snow build up

So we just had the first snow here. I found there is a design flaw in the windshield/wiper design. The wipers rest below where the defrost can warm the glass. So the wipers take all the water that melts when it his the windshield and wipes it to the bottom cold spot, where it promplty freezes back to the wipers. after half hour, they arent wiping squat, just smearing icebergs across the window. How do you northerners combat that ALL winter? Its very dangerous, I could not see and I did not want to pull over to clean them for fear of being hit by traffic. We were on the interstate and it was nearly a white out.

I thought about getting some of those rainX wipers that are like one piece, with no truss mechanism as a backer.

Thx

Also try the rainX De-icer. That seems to work wonders for me!

Im not sure what they are called or where to get them but my bother has these "special" wipers on his TJ that have a rubber boot all the way around them and a double blade. They are supposed to minimize snow build up and the second blade catches what the first one missed.

Defrost on high, that works for us.
What happened to me Friday night scared the crap outta me at first. I was driving on the highway, and it was -9 c, and all of a sudden, the temp goes down to -17c, and we hit really heavy fog. All of the moisture from the fog just froze as soon as it hit the windshield.
I just used the windshield washer for the duration of the fog, and all was good. This happened one more time on our trip, I can honestly say, the jeep has a really good heater.

Whoever designed the defroster vent and tested the area of the windshield it covers should be kicked in the ass.

yea, i had an expedition that had those "sealed" type wipers on it. they were factory ford tho. they wore out and i could never find the same thing to replace with.

i think i may try taking the wiper arms off and "clock" them one tooth on the drive spindle to get the resting area on the heated part. hopefully the drivers side will stay on the glass

Who ever tested the JK for winter did not do their job very well the defrost only covers the middle section of the window and doesn't defrost the driver and passenger windows very well either!! I hear they fixed the problem on the 2011.

Has anyone got a solution for the poor defrost on the windows??

Try Winter wiper blades, I got a set last yr & switch them out as seasons change. They worked well for me.
