Default Would warranty cover the softop and windows?

I installed my soft top for the first time. What a F*CKING PITA!

Anyways, while I was taking my soft windows out of their box, I noticed that one of the side windows had a faint scratch diagonally right across the whole window, and the other side window had what looked like a small hole near where the threading joins the start of the zipper. The faint scratch I have on the one I can live with. The problem is when I finally got the other window installed, that hole opened up and you can see the threading stretching through it. It is like the threading was not done properly. I cannot fit a finger though it but water will for sure get in.

Do you think I have any chance getting a new window from Jeep under warranty? It is not a hole from abuse or use. It is a defect. It was the first friggin time it was installed.

Thanks

Here is a pic. You are looking at the top right of the passenger soft window. The rip is right where the zipper starts.

If its a mfg defect, it should be covered. Pretty simple. Not really sure why you're doubting it? Just take it in and have them fix/replace it. If they don't thats where this thread comes in.

X2: This is clearly a factory issue, and should be handled the same way as any other faulty part discovered under warranty would be: either by a repair or an outright replacement, on DCX's dime...

Well I just got the call from the dealer. They were installing my Prodigy brake controller, looking at the front doors alignment, and repairing the soft top side window.

Apparently they sent the Jeep out to a pro-upholstry shop to have the window fixed. They restitched it where it ripped open, put on some kind of a sealant/adhesive to stop it from happening again and then dyed the new threading to match. I have not seen it yet but the service guy said it is hardly noticeable.

I will try and post pics of the repair tonight.

I am just happy to have the soft top fixed for free although they did scare me when they asked if they installed it or did I. I was ready for that "you did not install it correctly" crap to spew out of their mouths but nope. I made a point to mention that the soft top costs around $2500 US and that it should be expected to be durable enough to last for years without this happening. I would never have bought the Jeep if I had of thought it was going to be like washing Grandmas oldest China everytime I went to put up/take down the soft top.

On another note, they said that my front doors mis-alignment is normal. Something to do with water drainage? I was not about to argue about it right now. I will look further into it later

WTF? is that so when you drive it into a lake the water drains out faster from the body tub? Dont want the fish to get stuck?

I have a canoe i drilled holes in the bottom of to help the water run out also.

I dont understand their statement on that one!

My 03 soft top started to separate in 05. I took it in and they replaced it. No new windows tho. :(
