Default d44 front axle

In need of a dana 44 fron, trying to see the cost difference of buying one used vs buying a brand new one. Ideally the axle will have 5.13s to match my rear. Will consider rubicon take offs and aftermarket. Would prefer to deal local but willing to work with someone if its a good deal. Will also entertain any dana 60s

You have a bunch of options. You can certainly buy a Rubicon take off, or even a crate axle.

Or you could look at a Pro Rock, etc. I would also consider, depending on how much you have in the 30, a TeraFlex 30 axle housing. Beefed up with thicker tubes and bigger C's - and all your D30 components will fit in it. A friend of mine has been wheeling - hard - on a Tera30 for a couple years now.

It's an option.

I did a Rubicon take off. Mine is gusseted and trussed.

I wouldn't throw any money at a D30. Seems like a waste at this point, especially with 5.13s (I think I read that somewhere).

I would definitely go D44. Find yourself a Rubicon take off.

The struggle is finding a d44 front, and one that is affordable, everyone wants $2500 for their used one when you can get them for $2400 from a dealer new. I just dont have the capital right now to spend it and I need a solution to literally last me one year, until I can buy a second vehicle and strip this jeep from all the shit parts on it.

I have found some on ebay, so I am going to look closer at those ones this week and might be able to pull it off.

But a lot of those have been upgraded, so it's not a fair comparison.

I personally don't think a stock front D44 is worth more than about $1500, maybe $1750. And that would be nearly new.

Been reading your build thread, what did you get your set for? and I agree with you that the rubicon d44s are overpriced, I dont think they are worth over 2000 unless its already re-geared, and even then its still a lot

My situation was rather unique, so it's not something I would even worry about. I had to put a lot into the axles even after I got them, and that was taken into consideration when I got them from the previous owner.

A friend of mine bought a front, with an artel truss and new ball joints for like $1800.
