Rear hard top glass

Ok so I drove to the local baseball field and after smashing the rear glass I chucked a ball in there and took a picture

Sell the damaged glass.. disclose its issue... I'm sure plenty of folks would still be interested. From there, you have part of the cash for a new one. Price the rear glass with different shops. When I bought one they range from $280-$500 in my area. I bought one for $280ish delivered and installed. (I think that's what I paid. .. maybe a little less.. it's been a couple years)
WOW that's a big price spread. Good reason to shop around. I've also seen that with a lot of things in life. And you have a good tip there on keeping the old glass and flogging it off. I haven't used my rear defog since '07 and drive through winters.
On second thought OP may not need it either and save a lot of coin.

I have full glass coverage. I explained to them that the defroster tab came off and they replaced the entire glass. There is really no other fix. My insurance company did not give me a hard time at all. They even replaced the same window again after about 3 months, because the glass shattered due to it being -18 below zero and I turned on the defroster.

Normally only front windshield is covered under 'comprehensive' section. Collision coverage is actually an optional rider that pays when you drive intentionally or not into a ditch or house etc.
PLPD or public liability&public disability is what you or the other guy's insurance covers in the event of a collision (there are no accidents-everything has a cause except for natural events...).
Side and rear windows usually have to be blamed on theft or vandalism. Your insurance may be different.
