Willys Promo Film Shows You Probably Aren’t Making Full Use of Your Jeep

Chances are, if you own a Jeep, you probably don’t make use of the vehicle’s full capabilities.

Sure, a lot of you Jeep owners might hit the trails for some off-road adventures. And others might use your SUVs for towing the family boat. But have you ever used your Jeep for pulling an airplane down the runway? How about powering a saw to cut logs? My guess is probably not. Although, the 1940s Willys Promotional film below suggests that those ideas are certainly doable, as well as a whole lot more.

The 21-minute film (h/t Jalopnik) was developed to help promote the Jeeps as civilian vehicles, post World War II. It features everything from a Willys pickup to a Willys station wagon, being used for duties ranging from welding to pumping water.

Now, chances are that most here will probably never need to use their Jeep to tow an aircraft. But
it’s still pretty interesting to see all the things that the first civilian Jeeps were capable of.
