Default HAM / CB antenna on same mount?

Hi guys,

I'm working on my HAM license and also looking to get a CB for club trail runs. I wanted to see if anyone is running both CB and HAM radio antennas on the same mount? I'm looking to run the antennas in the tailgate area of my JKU (I know not the best location, but not thrilled about fender/hood mounted antennas.

Thanks,

Cool NO

For best results you should have no less than 24" separation between your HAM VHF/UHF antenna and your CB HF antenna. I try to keep 36" separation if possible. As I remember, I used two Arizona Rocky Road antenna mounts on my TJ installed on either side of the spare tire to maintain separation. I don't remember having any problems.

Thanks, Desert Fox! I'll see how I can set that up on my rig.

Olympic 4x4 Products 807-171 - Olympic 4x4 Products Rear Light Bar for 07-16 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

I have this on my Jeep I am currently running a dual band ham and an 800Mhz on the other side. Its not perfect but it gets the antennas away from the body and up in the air.

also see my post on antennas.

I used 2 Arizona Rocky Road mounts for my ham and cb antennas. He drilled the mounts specifically for the ham and cb antennas. Works OK, not quite 24" separation though.

That works as ling as you use a no-ground plane antenna for the ham antenna.

My antenna is a Diamond HA770HAB. The mount is grounded to the body.

I don't see anything on the packaging that says no-ground plane. Is it? How would I find out?

I think the no-ground plane antennas usually have masts out to the side in a + pattern or a big cylinder around the base.
