Default Floor protector for hauling parts

I just bought my 2015 JK last week and needed to make something to keep from tearing up the floor.
I work in the gas fields and have to haul a part now and then.
Like a single cylinder head for a 12 or 16 cylinder engine that weighs 230 pounds. Turbos or water pumps, pistons and liners, etc.
The Jeep is officially my sales vehicle which has to be 4WD.
Anyhow, I got a piece of 1/2" plywood cut to 38"x38", notched it for the seat mounts and made holes where the anchor rings are.
Some 1X around the edges to contain parts and dirt and 2 coats of polyurethane I had in the shop.
It ought to do for now.
And no, rubber straps don't hold heads in place, ratchet straps do, they're just to keep the wood from bouncing around when nothing is on it.

Here's an example of heads, pistons and liners. Don't quite need to haul that many now....

You might want to add some better anchor points for the rear the factory ones are pretty cheesy. Id hate to imagine what one of those heads would do if you ran into something with that little 1/8" piece of steel holding it in place.

Thick rubber mats (thick means 1/2 or 3/4 " ) are available from Tractor Supply. They are called Stall or Cow Mats, non-slip, very heavy and durable. Two sizes , 4' x 8 ' , think the smaller is '3x6', but not sure .
Stuff won't bounce or slide on these mats the way they will on plywood.
Your plywood will make a good template for trimming the rubber mat . Any Farm Store, Agway should have these super heavy mats, good luck !

Yep, I know those anchors are cheesy but for now, they'll do.

I thought about rubber but actually wanted something smooth. Two guys can pick up one of those heads but I'd hate to try and slide it closer to the edge on rubber or try and slide an odd shaped part into the back. Lots of rough sharp edges.

Also, I have a forklift put a small pallet in the back and, once again, I prefer the plywood.

If stuff is tied down it shouldn't be a worry but yes, the rear anchors need to be improved!

Nice job! I needed something to chew on a little. Tie downs in my case will have to be on the floor to pull down as much as possible on heavy or odd shaped items.

Thanks!

I had to give up some downward pull due to the false floor. Most of the heavy stuff I carry is tall enough to get adequate pull-down. A good net is key, too.

Still pushing my luck with the small tie downs...
I gotta fix this soon. They keep 500lbs from moving but if I get in a wreck I'd be wearing these
