In our last BFGoodrich Member Profile, we met a father who loved to wheel with his kids, and now we’ve got a member who has owned Jeeps throughout his life. He’s a wheeler who takes his CJs, XJs, JKs and more on the tough trails of Canada’s Northwest Territories. You know him as “Mikes Offroad” here on the boards, but today we’ll take a look into Mike Nolting.

Mike Nolting of the Northwest Territories, Canada has been wheeling Jeeps of all types. He’s a Jeep diehard and has owned three CJs, two XJs, two ZJs, a YJ that was mostly used for parts, a TJ, a Commander, and of course, his JK, which is an Unlimited Rubicon model. He decided to go with the JK because he wanted something that had four doors. He also wanted to be able to take the top off to enjoy the outdoors while wheeling. Indeed, his JK is well-equipped for wheeling, and his favorite two mods are his AEV lift kit, and of course, his BFGoodrich Krawlers.

The Kralwers are a great choice because of the terrain he deals with in the NWT. The rocks are fairly sharp, so the tough tread and sidewalls of the BFGoodrich Kralwers make for a perfect remedy against popped tires. They also showed their worth when he took on the JK eXperience in 2012. He is a crawler at heart, so you can be sure his favorite parts of JKX were the times when he needed to navigate those tight and technical areas. Of course, he’s not done with modding his JK, and really, who isn’t? His next addition will be a set of Poison Spyder Customs tube fenders … of course, that’s if the wife will let him.

Also, like many JK owners, he’s looking forward to the future of the next Wrangler. While many are looking for a lighter version using aluminum, Mike’s looking forward to the availability of a diesel engine. The torque, even out of the VM Motori 3.0L V6 (one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for 2014) that we’re seeing in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, will be an awesome upgrade to Jeep’s engine lineup in the Wrangler.

From the look of things, we won’t be surprised to hear about Mike’s purchase of the next Wrangler. Mike would like to thank his wife for putting up with his Jeeps … all 11 of them. He would also like to thank his Jeepin’ and wheeling buddies for the good times and more. We and BFGoodrich want to thank Mike Nolting for being a member of JK-Forum, and we look forward to seeing his next Jeep project.
