Check Out Jalopnik’s 1948 Willys in Moab

Jalopnik’s 1948 Willys project proves no Jeep mission is impossible.

As the saying goes, seeing is believing. That adage takes on even more meaning after seeing the above footage of Jalopnik‘s David Tracy actually tackling a few inclines in that 1948 Willys. Tracey spent the past couple of months getting the questionable Willys ready to drive from Detroit to Easter Jeep Safari.

It’s been a journey that we’ve followed pretty intensely here at JK-Forum. Namely, because there was a lot of skepticism about whether David would actually be able to make it to Moab in the Jeep. We hear there were even a few bets waged on whether or not the Jalopnik Jeep would even make it out of Michigan.

But even David himself seemed unsure of his ability to actually pull off the adventure. So seeing this video footage of his Jeep tackling the trails in Moab is really a victory celebration for those of us who’ve been rooting for David and his 1948 Willys.

That said, David’s outing in Moab is not exactly one of the smoothest displays of off-roading we’ve come across here at JK Forum. In fact, it’s a bit scary to watch at some points, out of fear that the entire thing could fall off the hinges any second. Then again, it’s not the most dreadful outing we’ve seen either.

The six-minute clip is, however, a clear and vivid testament to what’s capable when a diehard Jeep fan sets out to conquer the impossible – even under the most extreme conditions.
