Meet Jeremy Taylor’s Cummins-Powered Beast of a Rubicon

Rubicon

Taylor’s 2006 LJ Wrangler Rubicon kicks dirt on all the bad news we’ve been getting about diesels.

There’s been a lot of questions regarding whether or not diesel vehicles will ever gain any real traction here in the States.

That doubt has risen even more in the aftermath of the Volkswagen scandal, with claims that the carmaker cheated on emissions standards tied to its diesel vehicles. In fact, Jeep has now found itself in the midst of its own diesel scandal for similar allegations. Specifically, claims that the diesel variant of the Grand Cherokee don’t quite live up to designated standards in the U.S.

Meet Jeremy Taylor’s Cummins-Powered Beast of a Rubicon

And yet, with all that said, this Cummins-powered 2006 LJ Rubicon still shines as a prime example of why many of us find the idea of a diesel Jeep to be the ultimate of all off-road machines. The beefed-up Wrangler, which we came across in a Four-Wheeler Network report, is the prized possession of Jeremey Taylor, who has owned a few Jeeps over the years.

Though, we imagine that the work that has gone into this beast is probably unlike any other Jeep he’s owned to date. For starters, it required getting a QSB3.3 electronic common rail Cummins diesel fully integrated with a Cummins ECM and the factory 4.0L ECM.

The steps involved in that process likely would have deterred some from pursuing the project. Luckily, it sounds like Jeremy had some great help along the journey. Some of the other modifications seem a lot less intimidating, too. Well, at least compared to some of the crazy mods we’ve covered here at JK Forum.

Then again, depending on your passion for the time and money that comes with serious Jeep mods, what’s intimidating is probably just a matter of opinion.
