There’s nothing like hitting the brakes in a car, then feeling like you’re literally going to tip over at any moment.

Then again, I guess if you’re a thrill seeker, this might be just the kind of thing that you live for when driving a vehicle. Still, if you’re the average Renegade owner, hitting the brakes and having the rear wheels lift off the ground probably isn’t the kind of adventure you’re looking for.

But apparently, there have been a few scattered cases of Renegades doing just that, as highlighted in a Jalopnik report. Automotive journalist Pablo González was one of the first people to notice the issue in an early-build 1.6-liter, front-wheel drive, European-spec 2015 Renegade, as highlighted in the video below.

Fiat Group Spain blamed the incident on a brake malfunction for that particular model. But now, it appears that some Renegades equipped with the four-wheel drive and 2.0-liter engine might be experiencing similar issues, just not as extreme.

Check out the clip below, specifically at the 9:40 mark:

Scary, right? Well, apparently FCA thought so too, as they issued the following statement:

“The Jeep Renegade, which features Electronic Roll Mitigation and Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment, meets or exceeds all mandated safety requirements. The Company is investigating the circumstances surrounding these demonstrations.”

So, we shall see if there’s more to it than just these isolated cases.
