Nearly 164,000 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs Recalled

Exterior door trim on affected Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs may become detached from vehicle at speed and cause a road hazard.

Stellantis has issued a recall that affects 163,735 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. While that is a significant number of vehicles, it is estimated that only 2 percent of the recall population has the potential defect. In layman’s terms the issue is that the exterior door trim on the driver and passenger doors may fly off the SUV while it is moving. This flying debris can cause a road hazard for other drivers and lead to the increased risk of a crash. Although Stellantis is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for all markets.

More specifically the problem involves the front door day light opening (DLO) trim. The trim itself is not defective. However, the DLO trim was not properly secured at the vehicle assembly plant. The recall covers 40,737 2022-2025 model year Jeep Grand Wagoneers built from February 24, 2021 to February 1, 2025. In addition, 122,998 2022-2025 Jeep Wagoneers built from March 8, 2021 to February 1, 2025 are also under this recall notice. Both the Gloss Black and Bright Chrome trim types are covered by the recall.

History of Problem

On July 1, 2025 the FCA US LLC Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (TSRC) organization opened an investigation into some 2022 – 2025 model year Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer vehicles for a potential issue related to the front door DLO trim. The investigation lasted through August.

The investigation revealed 405 warranty claims, three field reports, and 112 other service records potentially relating to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from March 2, 2022 to August 1, 2025. On September 4, it was determined that a potential safety defect exists on some of these vehicles.

Wagoneer History

The 2022 to 2025 model year Jeep Wagoneers and Jeep Grand Wagoneers have been recalled before. In fact, this is the eighth recall for the 2022 models. The 2023 and 2022 models have been recalled six and five times respectively. This is the first recall for the 2025 models.

The current WS generation Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer entered the market as a 2022 model. It revived the storied model names that had been out of production since 1991 when the venerable SJ generation ended after a remarkable 29-year run.
