Here’s a bit of information we missed at this year’s International Consumer Electronics show that would be cool to see in the next gen Wrangler – although I’m betting would-be Jeep thieves would hate the feature.

The technology, called the Eyelock Iris Identity Authenticator, is a high-tech feature that uses a person’s iris or eye (think Mission Impossible) to validate ownership of the vehicle before starting, according to a PR News Wire report.

With Eyelock technology installed, even if someone unauthorized got a hold of your keys, they wouldn’t be able to start the car. Only the authenticated user can start the vehicle using the iris authenticator, by simply looking in the mirror on the visor. It takes less than five seconds to complete.

At the annual show, a 2015 Wrangler was used to showcase the technology, which was developed by Voxx Electronics.

We’re getting mixed reports on whether Jeep has official plans to use the Eyelock Iris Identity Authenticator, but we sure think it would be an impressive tech feature for the brand to consider.
