Technically the Forest Service MVUM has it planned for closure up through June 20th. Since 2010 however they have not closed it. They did this year, wet conditions mud etc.

I wonder if because we had such a light snow year a lot of rigs made it up and possible created a mess of things.... Either that or somebody is looking over the ranger districts shoulder.

Either way looking forward to something opening up!

 

The OHV Ranger explained that the new travel management plan adopted 2 years ago provided a 1 month closure(I think that's the amount of time he said). The idea is that it's okay to be on the trail when it's under snow and when the snow is gone,but not when there's partial snow and water holes from the melting snow. If you think about it,we always do that with the seasonal trails. They don't open until the mud and standing water are gone.

 

Bald Mountain is now open.
