Is anyone planning on going this year?
Just wondering what it's like...is it worth the money?

We went two years ago. Basically you are paying to camp and use free trails throughout Minden.

The other thing is that you need a membership to the OF4WD prior to signing up for Camp NL, then you need to compete with hundreds, maybe thousands of other OF4WD members for the 100 participant spaces they have to get in.

While the OF4WD is a good organization, they can tend to be fairly inactive for the money you pay to be a member....plus the trails they run on for Camp NL are public use trails and therefore FREE for anyone to go on throughout the season...plus you can camp on these trails for nothing to. Crown Land for the most part.

So while it can be worth going in some respects, in others it can be just as good to go up there for a couple of days under your own power with people that know the area and that are reputable with their 4x4 skill.

The other event to check out is Trail Fest.....quite expensive to go, not restricted to "members only" and the trails are on private land, so they are not normally accessable.

Something to think about.

Zeero you are missing the point...

CAMP NL is not about charging for use of crown land. it is about raising money for CHARITY and help to cover the cost of our operation.

yes you need to be a member of OF4WD to participate and it does sell out quickly. but not in a matter of hours, last year was 2 weeks before sellout.

check us out www.of4wd.com and form your own opinion

If you have any questions PM me or contact me thru the OF4WD contacts page.

I am not trying to pursuade anybody....especially with an Arcaic view.....I am simply asking for accountability......

I was and have been asking for accountability for a number of years and never got a straight answer. It was always "Administration" or "Cost of Operation"

I am no longer interested in where the money goes, because none of it is mine.

It was simply a past experience.

I am not bashing or pursuading.....I am simply being a voice of caution to people who are thinking of going.....I say go to camp NL by all means....its a very fun weekend for sure...had a great time....but I am simply saying to people who want to join "Ask questions, get answers, don't accept cookie cutter responses....demand accountability, demand results....don't get duped into doing it yourself when you are paying someone else to do it"

Beyond that....go...have fun......thats what its all about.....its a fun filled event.........just don't be scared to ask questions.

Dion, why are you even posting in this thread. You have voiced your opinion, move on.

You keep bringing up the money. It was $ 25 a YEAR!!! If just by chance the OF4WD accomplished anything in your favor, I would say money well spent. If you truly had any idea of what has been accomplished, you might just shut your mouth. You had a run in with Rick, big deal, get over it.

You drop the "Overland" name like some huge humanitarian movement. There is two of you!! Just how much money have you donated?? I see your a little short of your $ 20,000 donation this year by about $ 20,000 LOL

Did you honestly expect a dealership or Jeep to pony up and supply your vehicles for you? How did that go?

As much as I can respect what's involved in your expedition. IT'S A VACATION!!! Quit trying to make everyone think it is anything but. You may fool some, but most can see right threw you.

And for God's sake, Quoting "yourself" in your sig line!!!! You really do make it easy!!!!
