My bro works in insurance; and well has informed me that they will not be covering accedents this year if thoes involved do not have winter tires with the easy to check snow flake symbol. Often dealing with insurance can be a PITA showing them documents to justify stuff after a mishap (like how "LT" rated should still be good) ect... and prolonging the time it takes to get your Jeep back, and or your record clean again due to the BS your going to have go through to prove to "THEM" your legal. Be easier just to give them what they want in case of a mishap.
Not to mention stock tires kinda blow anyways IMO.

I'm screwed either way as I do not have the snow flake or LT rated tires.

Going to go with theis in 285/70/17 on stock rims since the price seems reasonable.

I haven't posted for a while(been out of town) but this new law sucks big timeMy bridgestone dueller tires are not considered legal for winter use even if the tread design is deeper and more aggresive than half the winter tires people are putting on their vehicles. My sahara came equipped with 255-70-18 a/t's .I've been looking around and it's just about impossable to find a winter tire in that size around here. Those who do have some are asking anywhere from 1200.00 to 1500.00 for a set !!!!I think i'm just going to take a chance and see what happens. Anybody else taking this route in quebec

I think you'll have to be very careful. From what I understand, even the parking patrols will be checking tires. Personally I got myself a set of Rubicon tires that are rated LT for a good price and I plan on using them until the end of my lease. It just bugs me that our choices are so limited because of our stock tire size!!!

Default Quebec tire law.

I also live in Montreal and went with 265\75\R16 yokohama Geolandar go72's on 16 inch soft 8's (Cheaper than the OEM JK Steel rims). I've tried the Rubi tires in winter and as soon as the snow was packed or icey the jeep was all over the place. Theres nothing like a good set of winter tires for Canadian winters !!. Remember the 98 ice storm?

It's not the snow they are worried about. Its the ICE. M/T's generally do not perform well on ICE. I swap summer/winter tires on my Saab, and will be tossing the factory BFG M/T's on my Rubi as soon as I can. Pathetic on ice. No siping what so ever. Most of the time, when people hit the ditch, it's not due to too much snow on the road, it's due to the sheer ice.
