charcoal and fluid= $10.00 per cookout. Gas bottle 12-14 cookouts for $20.00. This is for 3 people only. I don't consider deck cookouts as ''gourmet'', so a slight taste difference is meaningless to me....

I voted for propane just becuuse its so easy. I can just flick it on and grill up anything I want. I grill throughout the winter, even during snow storms and light rain I do agree that charcol prob tastes a bit better, but I can throw some wood chips on my gas grill and get a smoked flavor...Ok, this thread is making me hungry

A real charcoal griller would never use lighter fluid!
Chimney starter only!

The true grill master would be using lump charcoal.
Briquettes were a way to make extra cash from the shavings of Model T wheels, certainly not some grand invention for better tasting meat.

LP and natural gas are simply for convenience. (and convenient they are)

Ask Alton Brown how he would grill meat.

I'm no gourmet, so 99% of the time, it's LP for me.

A ringtone I made to identify my brother calling when he worked as a regional rep for a propane company (his son's name is Taylor and, yes, that's my voice):

I prefer the taste of charcoal, but I don't use it very often, I'm a slave to the convenience of propane.....and propane accessories.
