I'm about an hour and a half south of there. I'm willing to take a drive to do some wheeling though.

Have you tried Hudson Valley 4x4 ? they are a member club of NOVA which is having Trailfest Aug 20-21-22 in western Mass. You can sign up on the NOVA site or there is a link on the HV4x4 site.

I assume you mean Hudson valley 4 wheelers (HV4W) and there website states:

"As you can see from our truck pictures, all HV4W trucks are reasonably well built up. Most all members have lockers, a winch, and 33" or larger tires. As such, the trails we tend to choose are challenging to our level of vehicle. We do not require prospective members to have this level of vehicle when joining, Owners of stock vehicles are welcome. However, it is difficult to get them through the trails we frequent without a lot of winching by us and a lot of skid plate scraping by you. New members of HV4W will enjoy our off-road trips much more with a more built up truck"

I feel that rules me out since i don't plan on doing any major mods (lift, lockers) to my JK in the near future I'd hate to be a burden to the rest of them.

I'm all about wanted to get together here in Upstate NY as well. I have 40 acres to get dirty on but i'm afraid we'll get bored pretty quick. I've heard of some firelanes and whatnot that you can wheel on up in the Camden area. Has anyone else been up there? Lets plan a saturday get together before the snow starts flying and its time to tune up the sleds!

I've been up through the fire lanes that are north of Camden. You can access them from Florence or from Empyville. There is nothing seriously challenging there, but it does provide a few hours of riding dirt roads away from people. There is a small pond in there, Johnny Smith Pond is the name, that is full of small bass. Be sure you print a topo map or bring a GPSr along as you can get lost on all the roads in there. I believe you said you were near Vernon. I belong to a fish and game club in Verona, we are located on Sholtz Rd.. If you shoot, hunt, or fish, you might want to check us out. We have a web site, ---.gvmfgc.com , just put the www in front.

Just minutes north of adirondack park and a few minutes from canadian border. There are lots of trails to ride. Most are easy to moderate. Early winter really adds to the diffuculty of the trails. :d
