Default Dead tranny

no... not a prostitute... the tranny in my Jeep. I suppose it isn't dead either... just dying.

I've been having a lot of shifting issues lately. I took it in on Monday but the problem went away on the way to the shop

It came back today and after playing with it for a bit they say it's the transmission. I still have it for the weekend but I'll be dropping it off on Monday. The girlfriend and I are heading in to the "big city" tomorrow in her Jeep.

Going to pick mine up today with a new transmission in it. Only had 46k miles. Thank god for the extended warranty!

I now have the garage that is repairing the Jeep and my dealer looking into it because apparently "my transmission issue isn't covered under the extended warranty"

Pretty sure I purchased the transferrable extended warranty for your rig Elega..... worth a closer look maybe?

Sorry to hear about the troubles...... crappy

The issue is still ongoing but I feel a bit better about it. It looks like I do have warranty and it will be covered. I have an appointment to have it fixed next Wednesday.

The frustrating part is the issue is intermittent. One day it will be nearly impossible to shift, the next it's like butter! It is odd to hope that the issue DOESN'T go away

Enough people have seen it now to know I'm not crazy.

I think the warranty is transferable. They threw in a global warranty package when I bought the Jeep - I'm probably going to look into that one as well. For two hundred bucks it is worth the peace of mind.

Yes it is

They had it apart once due to an ungodly rattle when cold with the clutch out.. farm tractor rattle sounds!!! I even video taped it with audio because by the time I drove it to the dealer it was warmed up and the sound was gone. They replaced throw out bearing and a couple more things... was always hard to shift into 2nd.. even my 09 JKU does that when cold.

Hope you get er fixed up ASAP dude

I got a new tranny in my jeep as well after 30,000k and a new rear drive shaft.

The appointment was delayed until next Wed, March 2.
Unfortunately it has been running fine - almost no shifting issues (just once into reverse) since last Saturday after taking it on a little road trip.

I hope it comes back soon!

I just heard from the stealership - they say it's the clutch, not the transmission (therefore it isn't covered by powertrain). I contacted the dealer I originally purchased the Jeep from and put them to work to try to get it covered... not much fun.

On a brighter note: it's getting warmer - topless season approaches!
