Go to your national forest office and request a "motor vehicle use map" -- each ranger district has one. In the Roosevelt/Arapaho national forest there are 4: canyon lakes (in the north), Boulder, Clear Creek, and Pawnee National Grassland. Each of these maps is HUGE and, best of all, FREE. I'm not sure how many Pike NF has, but it's worth checking out.

The cool thing about them is that they show all 4x4 trails, and any time "distributed camping" is allowed, the trail is surrounded by dots. It's fricken awesome and I've already found lots of cool do-it-yourself camping spots.

Just camped at the beginning of Johnny Park Road, near Pierson Park Rd. These are off 7 near Meeker Park (I believe is the name). I get these out of those 4wd books. The author will detail those trails and indicate camping. I'd like to camp on the way up to Bill Moore Lake outside Empire.

Pole Hill Road, off 36 southeast of Estes Park - great views. Forgot about that one.

Just got back from camping/exploring in the La Sals this weekend. I probably won't have a chance to get a trip report together until next week since I will be out exploring and camping in Southern Colorado this week starting on Wednesday But here's two photos from this weekend to hold you over until then....

Default for sale stuff

Hey guys...I'm seeing a lot of for sale type posts crop up - please put those in the appropriate forum, not in this thread. Thanks!

so the lift went on last week and lucky for me I"ll be up in Copper Mountain all weekend. I wanted to get the Jeep off the pavement and was looking at some nearby trails. I have the wife and 6 mo old with me, so these will be easy trails. The little one is still in the bobblehead phase, so its a safety issue. anyways, I was looking at Shrine Road, Ptarmigan Pass, Lime Creek off of Vail Pass and Mayflower Gulch down 91. Can you give me some insight on these? I'm not even sure if Mayflower can be driven. I snowshoe in the winter there, and I've read comments that sound like 4wheel is ok, but not sure..

Also, if anyone is in the area I am looking at Friday or Saturday to take a run up one or two of these...

hey guys... i'm going to be installing my TF leveling kit and I need to go buy a jack. I heard you can install this thing without removing the tires but I don't think the stock jack will be tall enough. Should I go buy a high lift or just a floor jack?

on a side note if I do buy a high lift where do you lift the jeep from ? Maybe a stupid question but I didn't know if I could pick it up by the step bars?
