Illinois JKs Check In
The first items I went after was recovery gear, because as you stated a few times our stupidity just gets the best of us. The more vehicles I recover or see others recover I keep learning by leaps and bounds how to work in different situations. The next items I am going after will be more straps, clevises, a high lift jack, and a front bumper with clevis recovery points. I watched a guy do a self recovery last week and he had to winch up hill 100' then lock the jeep at the front bumper to trees so he could run the winch around a 45 degree turn while still on a hill of ice. He did a great job and it was interesting to watch.
Hello everyone, I had to make a run to St Louis and got time run around at Hannibal rocks on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately the my video camera took a dump on me and I ended up with no footage. I did take one photo by the entrance.

I had a pretty good time messing around in the small bowl on rock piles as well as running the upper trails. They advised me to stay out of the bottoms since everyone who tried them just sank in the mud.

Springfield here! This is my first time on this part of the site. I'll keep a closer eye out. Also... PLEASE check out Two Rivers Jeep Club. Its the largest jeep club in the country that runs exclusively on private land. Great people and a great time to be had for sure. There are trails rated from 1 (stock jeeps/first time off-roader) to 5 (Hardcore trail rigs and experienced drivers only).

Hey everyone, Illinois JK checking in here from the southwest suburbs of chicago. Got my JK unlimited sahara in October and cant wait to give it lots of use this spring/summer. All stock right now, working with a tight budget to make some upgrades, but i'm always down for hitting up the Cliffs in Marseilles...let me know if you want to go.
Past few days have been great, weather was decent, almost warm enough to start pulling the top panels off the Jeep, then.... Snow.. Not sure how this happens, but today, about 55 degrees this afternoon, t-shirt weather. Come around 6 in the evening, look out the window, SNOW.
You've got to love Illinois weather, makes no sense at all.
I figure, this has got to be the end! The weather forecast calls for high 50's tomorrow, so snow or not, the top of the Jeep is coming apart!
Side note, lots of Chicago (area) people, haven't seen any check in on the North Western side of the state, pretty lonely up here! Maybe I should go join the Iowa section of the board!
