I was thinking the exact same thing Tek!- it would be very cool to camp out there.-It seemed as though is was completely random regarding the campsites we saw. I'm sure theres got to be some order to it, but it seemed like you could just pitch anywhere-it was hilarious to be out there thinking, man this trail is pretty tough, good thing I'm in a Jeep, and then you'd come around a bend, and there's a subaru legacy parked and a little campsite set up--the next one we saw was a 90 ford explorer held together by rust-Keep us posted on the details Tek!

I'll try to answer a few of the questions being asked and try to search for better answers.

First, no ORV sticker is needed in the area around where we were. Only Silver and the State ORV trails need an ORV sticker. You will see an orange triangle sign with a motorcycle, ORV or Jeep on it when the ORV sticker is needed.

As for camping most State and National forests are open camping unless posted. Finding the actual forest area is the hardest. I do now they allow camping along the south side of the White River where we saw the tent. Also along Sand Road area & Pine Points on the North side. Also an area West of M37 between Newaygo and White Cloud. These are the areas that I have come across groups of campers, from tents to motor homes.

The Pine Point area even has a developed camp ground along with wilderness camping. This location is 15 mins. to 1 hour ride to most trails around here. Most travel would be via dirt road and trails.

The only rule I know for sure is a permit is needed if you have 20+ jeeps/vehicles traveling the trails together.

Will post back more this weekend.

Good to hear from ya Tek!-glad you're having a good time!--I want to do that before summer is over-I've been checking all of the campgrounds in and around Silver Lake, Mears, etc... and everything seems to be completely booked up thru the summer....sucks!

Hey guys, just wanted to post quick to see if there is still an interest to camp or at least get out on the trails here (or wherever) again. School is approaching fast and even though its been a busy summer here at work its about to get a whole lot busier

I think I saw sdault today on the way back to work picking up food for lunch...maybe not but it was a black 2 door. Anyway, haven't been driving the jeep to much to work so I can keep the miles off it but it definitely needs to see some more trail time before (and hopefully during) fall.
