Project-JK The Badlands 2009 (Official Thread)
F#ckin Jeep isn't running right again! oh, btw, Happy Easter to all my fellow Jeepers! like i was saying, went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't. cranked it over for awhile and it started. backed out of the driveway, got half a block down the street and the engine light, esp and red lightning bolt lights all came on!!! turned around and idled home. i'm guessing exhaust problem b/c it wouldn't let me give it gas and the idle was really rough. so i don't know if i'm gonna trust this thing to get me to the Badlands, wheel, and get home. i just don't have any more faith left for this JK
i've read on the forum about guys saying that Chrysler has bought their jeeps back. anyone know how many times i have to have it in the shop b4 that happens? i really don't wanna go through all the hassle of gettign a lemon law lawyer. i still want a jk, just not this one!
hope to see you guys at the Badlands

That is exactly what mine did when I got stranded in Cadillac in January. The wirting harness on the transmission is bad. What happens is the harness shorts out and sends fault codes to the trans and computer. It will lock you into second gear and limit your rpms at about 1500. Top speed is about 14 mph. Took me 7 hours to get home from Cadillac. It ran real rough and sounded like a boat gurglin in the water.
Mention to the dealer that it is probably the wiring harness. Some dealers f around trying to fix it, mine just replaced it. Do a search for Electronic Throttle Control. That is the red lightning bolt on the dash.

thanx for the help
i hounded them today, calling every two hours. i wanted to let them know i expected it back today, or at least, keep bugging them, so to fix it quicker to get me to stop calling! either way, it worked!! got it back tonight around 7pm.
it was the "crank shaft sensor"... they said the wire was just loose/bad connection, but as added precaution they changed the sensor too.
i'm gonna scream so loud you'll hear me in Saginaw if this jeep leaves me stranded again!!!!!

Dear Brian:
The four-wheel-drive off-roading season is fast upon us. Spring is here. Fresh trails are calling.
As any four-wheel-drive enthusiast will tell you, detours are inevitable. Unfortunately, this means we'll have to bypass Camp Jeep® 2009.
Our adventurous fans know alternate routes for fun are out there to be discovered and enjoyed. Visit jeep.com to find a variety of new and well-traveled paths to destinations others only dream of.
Keep living the Jeep® life on the exciting trails that lie ahead.
