Rocky Mountain High Jeep Adventure August 2012 Ouray/Silverton/Telluride
Can I wear my flip-flops?
Just so I am prepared for this trip what kind of equipment am I going to need. I have never wheeled more than an hour away from home so I haven't had to pack for an extended trip. I carry tools, recovery gear, spare tire, hi-lift and stuff like that while I am wheeling around here. But what else am I going to need? What should I put on my Christmas list?
I drive a 2010 2 Door, 33's and stuff. I should have a locker by then.

My list for camping:
Two man 3 season tent with rainfly
Two self inflating air mattresses
Tent light
40 degree sleeping bag and a 10 degree bag (depends on the temp forecast) and a liner
Blankets
Collapsible pillow x2
Head lamp
Extra batteries for lights
Cooler full of food
Rolling table - maybe (may just use trail table on Jeep)
Camp stove and propane - though if a few of use just bring one stove (a couple total), plan out meals, might save on gear? Everyone could chip in for propane?
I find having my own water carrier is very convenient. I had a 7 gal tank at Drummond Island.
Portable folding toilet is a morale saver! (and the paper work and shovel to go along with it)
That's all I could think of for now
We are planning on tenting it, I love sitting around a fire after a day of wheeling. We have a nice tent, sleeping bags, stove, cots and all that. Will we be camping in one place the whole time so we can set up a base camp of sorts or are we going to have to tear everything down every day and move somewhere else? That will decide on what camping stuff we bring.
I am going to be buying an OR-Fab tire carrier this winter and I am torn between the can and non-can versions. I like the can version so I could pick up a rampage Jerry Can tool box and not have all that stuff inside the Jeep. If extra fuel is recommended that will make up my mind. There is only $20 difference in price so that isn't a big deal. But I don't like how far out it sticks, and around here you don't need to carry extra fuel.

Yes we will. E staying In one place I will post up the gps location. We will be camping at 10,000 feet so it can get chilly even in August at night. The summits of the passes even has snow still. We will try to do some fairly difficult trails but most of them are pretty easy more pucker factor and beautiful scenery. This was my first trip in my jeep 2 years ago I think anybody going is going to have a great time. Deluth if you weren't camping I would have to give you some crap lol!!!
Chris
That list looks pretty spot on! What I learned from last time bring lots of bottles of water on the trails with high altitude you get super dehydrated or maybes it was from all the booze
