The viewing is on Thursday night. A low key memorial service, so my wife said I am completely in the clear. We will be leaving Thursday morning. The trails are in my future again.

Windrock is back on for me!!!:y up:

Shoup, I will take you up on your beverage offer Saturday night!!!

Glad it worked out and you can take care of family. What kind of beverages would you like? Is the wife attending? My new bide will be on her virgin adventure.

Hell, I'll be there Friday night Saturday night and Sunday night. The Cabin door will be open.

The wife doesn't want to go. It is a little expensive if I took the three boys and wife with me at $17 a piece. When the boys get older she won't have any excuses though because they will be begging to go with me.

The map is water-resistant and printed on fairly sturdy stock. I think the cost was like $6 or $7.

Also note that not every trail is open to "Jeep type vehicles" - you'll need the map to figure that out as all the trails are listed along with the permissions. We found some trails marked as ATV, but the map stated that they were open to Jeeps, so off we went.

Also, in the mornings, consider taking the trail from the campground down to the Snack Shack to get "warmed up".

I've been up there a couple of times now, and posted some pics in the Trails and Tales section of the forum. You can search on Windrock or Coal Creek to find them. If you have any questions, let me know - hopefully I'll know the answers. Have fun!!
Thanks for that info JKRubi. I didn't know you can check in at the campground for the park. That will be nice for all you camping. Everytime I have been to Windrock it wasn't all to crowded at check in. In fact, I think the longest I had to wait at any one time was one person in front of me.

One other thing I forgot to mention that may be nice to know is they don't require any flags. So you can bring yours if you would like but it is not necessary. It seems like every park up north requires it, but when you get to the hills and mountains they don't.

Here is a map I have used in the past that is decent. The trails are ever changing so this isn't exact, but something you can print off or get a view of the park. Just to let you all know, and some of you already have heard this, but the park is over 72,000 acres!!!! I think the Badlands is something like 1,000 acres to give you a little comparison of the size.
