This is going on an AR. I have been thinking of a scope instead of a red dot. The Nikon P223 looks like a good value.

Default Combat zip ties...

...and DIY paintjob comming after the Tapco Intrafuse... Should have gone with something more proactive in the recoil department.

Just out of curiousity, how far are you guys shooting with the aimpoint? Are you using a magnifier?

I can get to 300m comfortably without magnification. I thought I wanted a 3x magnifier but after having it I learned that shooting at magnification without a usable reticle is an exercise in futility.

A red dot plus magnifier is around $800, which can buy a good 1-4x or 1-6x which offers more mag and a reticle that's much more usable at range.

First is a SIG-551 cal.223 and the second one is a Sniper DSR-1 cal. 338 Lapua Magnum with 5-25 optic up to more than 1500m :-)

I like the C-more HUD sights, have a couple on AR's...
The Bushnell first strike is an awesome and small red dot for the price.
Vortex has some great scopes with features usually found in much higher priced optics, look at the Diamondback and Viper lines; they also offer a traditioinal tube style red dot called the strikefire.
