Default first time gun buyer

Im recently 18 and i have decided to exercise my 2nd amendment rights. I have shot guns and all my relatives have guns, but my dad wasn't crazy about buying me a gun when i was younger. I dont really know what i want or what i should look out for. any suggestions are helpful. thanks

A Glock 19 or 26 = 9mm is a great first gun!

I would start with a 9mm because of ammo prices. You can get 9mm ammo cheap at wally world and learn the gun and how to shoot well without breaking the bank

I just got an xdm 9mm 5.25 over the weekend spent about $50 in ammo and went through it in no time. If your wanting to do alot of shooting 9mm is the way to go.

Agreed with a .40 cal. High capacity, fairly cheap ammo, great stopping power. Def Springfield XD.

No offense just saying gun? Pistol, rifle, shotgun? Intention, is this functional or recreation?

If he's anything like me its functional and recreation. They are super fun and can relieve stress really quickly and gives you a piece of mind when it's on you

Just curious, I'm an advocate but feel each choice serves a purpose. Sport, recreation, defense. At 18 my arms where for hunting, using a term like gun is vague to me. I assume your asking about a pistol? If so it's like jeeps many styles for different function's...Glocks have their place as does revolvers... Ect
