Default cj 5 info

my friend may be purchasing 2 1970 cj 5's that were used out on a farm in upstate ny. he wants to modify one for a trail rig and one for a winter dd. i dont know too much about cj's so i figured id ask the experts at the jk-forum. so what should be the main things we look at on these cj's to make sure that they are worth buying. any cj 5 info will be a big help thanks a lot

I rebuilt a 74CJ5 a few years back. I took hundreds of pics. The 74 will be different then the 70 but if you need a reference then let me know.

The T-18 granny low is 6.32 to 1 in 1st gear, it's a 4-speed, and it's a heavy duty trans. The problem is the T-18 came in Ford's, International Harvesters, and Jeeps. So you have to hunt down the proper T-18.
