Question My Willys Jeep Build "Noob Needs Advice"

I plan on starting a Willys jeep build this year.. possibly Willys MB Jeep 1945 (it will depend on what i can get my hands on)

I want to start with the engine and tansmission. for something to work on in the house.

what engine do I want to look for? I am a total Noob to building one of these jeeps but i know there must have been a few different engines over the years..

question is what engine (model) do I want? also what transmission?

thank you

Default The "Go-Devil" Willys engine

if i am not mistaken The L134 or the F134 are my best choices. I guess it will come down to whatever i can get my hand on.

You can'y go wrong with either of the 134's. If you can get your hands on a L226 they work sweet!

That's the nice thing with these old Heeps, you can cobble anything up to work.

I found a guy near to where i live he has 2 F134's and wont sell me either unless I buy and old jeep pick up and take all its spare parts with me.. I have no where to put all that stuff and dont need all those parts..

Finding and engine for this thing is going to be very hard

The old Jeep pickups are collectible;get that one, learn on it and then do a MB or CJ.Best of both worlds...Check out G503 to learn about the Military Jeeps.

The MB is my favorite old Jeep so im sticking by it. im not into the 50's trucks. to much of an investment for something i dont want to rebuild

Default Cost$$$

What should i expect to pay for one of these engines in bad shape?

or a full rolling chassie with the complete drive train. everything but the tub

also I found out that a F134 will not work on a Jeep MB because its to tall. so I need an L134
