I have the factory alarm that's standard on the Sahra. it seems to work ok, havn't had it go off without me trying to set it off. Only down side is when doors are off, you can climb in it, but doors off will usually just occur while I'm off roading.

I'm personally not concerned about an after market alarm, with all the security features (sterring wheel lock, chip in the key, etc.) I'm not sure how the vehicle would be stolen without a flatbed and a butch of soap, but I park in rocks on the side of my house behind a gate, so that wouldn't work either. I'm not too concerned about MYGig either as it's a stock head unit, not real popular with theives, and it will not work outside the host vehicle without a starscan to reset it.

(For say a MyGig theft, or attempting to steal the whole jeep)

I don't want to kill them, just slow them down a little...

that's justified, right? I mean they are messing w/your car...

and lets face it, most 'decent' cars are $20,000 +, that' a LOT of money and YOUR time...
Aww c'mon, not just a shot in the leg... I say kill 'em! Or atleast have them get electricuted and then shot in the leg *evil grin*

I just got an alarm system with a proximity sensor in it. I got the Avital 4400 which has the 2 way LCD remote (tells me if my alarm is going off). Paid 250 for system, 50 for sensor/sensor installation, and 40 so the remote will unlock and lock my doors (you'd think this would be included....) so 360 total. This system has the remote start feature but it costs more so I didn't get it. The proximity sensor is pretty cool, I'm going to have to adjust it to make it perfect but when I walk by it sure does do its job. There are 2 zones, certain distance will give warning and closer up will give full alarm. It works fine up by the front seats but in the back (where it matters because of soft top) it is not sensing me. Maybe it's "force field" is circular, missing the back since the jeep is rectangular/oval.

Anyone know how to adjust these, I have the one by Directed. There are 2 screws. Is one for length and the other width? Or is one for the inner field and the other the outer field?
