Antenna failure message
I just installed my new cobra 29LX cb and Firestik 2 antenna with a 3" spring and Firestik mount.... I have a radioshak coax cable that was already in the jeep when I bought it... I ran the wire to the radio and gave it power.... The noaa weather comes in clear as day but when I test everything it says antenna warning..... Someone please help.... I have ground wire from mount to chassis

Have you checked the SWR? I'm just wondering if that radio might have a built in meter and it might be alerting you that it's high
I'm talking out of my @&^ here though, not familiar with that radio and I'm certainly no CB expert (as apparent from my own recent thread)

Yes the unit has swr calibration on it but as soon as I try to transmit a message it says " antenna warning " and when I first hooked it up today on cb mode it gave me feedback or static, then all the sudden the static stopped but the weather is nice and clear sounding, and on cb mode when I hit transmitter button it makes a noise but I get no feedback or static.. Is it supposed to be silent?

Again, what is your SWR? I have a similar setup as you but with a much better mount. I have the LX as well. Switch it to SWR mode and see what it says. No, you should get no feedback when transmitting. Is your RF gain cranked? Is your squelch at the lowest possible setting? Those with both give you white noise - it really is not called static
Did you run the self checks the CB is capable of doing? Check all connections as well.
That ground wire looks dinky as hell. The thicker the better. And don't key the mic when there is no antenna attached, you could fry your unit.

And it wants me to hit the transmitter button for the calibration and now I'm afraid to even hit the damn button.... I don't wanna fry my radio and now I'm scared that I did since I get absolutely no white noise anymore no matter what I do i can't get it back
The SWR on your Cobra is for very fine tuning only - you have got to go get a SWR meter that you will hook up between your CB and your antennae and adjust your antennae for length.
Sad news is you may have already fried your CB.
BUT, you can't do anything until you get a SWR meter - they're available online and from Truck Stops.
